This piece, "Despair," is a reflection on a state of mind consisting of convoluted ideas, fears and visual/sensory overstimulation. A combination of the burden from emotional confusion and unfocused energy, creating a disarray of disorienting images and contradicting perceptions. The words within the piece “Don't give in to Despair” are representative of the only conceivable thoughts as the turmoil is occurring. Personally, my pieces start as pure emotional release, then are continued later once I am in a more subdued state of mind in order to reflect and create a new understanding of the emotions I was experiencing in the previous moment.
