On January 20th, 2021 at 9 AM PST, President Joe Biden was sworn in along with Vice President Kamala Harris. After only a day, Biden has done more than Trump did within his 4 years. Biden has signed 15 executive actions as part of a collection of steps he plans to take in the coming days that will address his top policy priorities and will reverse some of Trump's initiatives. Reporters were told by White House officials that he would be signing 17 actions focused on Covid-19, climate change, racial justice, and the economy. The actions he signed included an order to wear masks on federal property, a proclamation halting further funding or construction to the wall along the U.S. southern border, an order reversing Trump's decision to withdraw from the World Health Organization, a removal of Trump's travel ban affecting Muslim-majority nations, and an action to rejoin the Paris climate accord. Jen Psaki announced that the White House sent an immigration bill to Congress. "The president's priority reflected in the bill [is] to responsibly manage the border, keep families together, grow our economy, address the root causes of migration from Central America, and ensure that America can remain a refuge for those fleeing [persecution]," she said.

The top priority for the Biden administration is advancing a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package with Congress, something the President has already been discussing with lawmakers. Some of Biden’s planned actions are to rejoin the World Health Organization, ask the Education Department to extend the federal student loan payment and interest pause through Sept. 30, and tell federal agencies to extend eviction and foreclosure moratoriums through March 31. In addition, he plans to place a temporary moratorium on oil and gas leasing in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Biden also plans to reverse the Trump directive to exclude undocumented immigrants from the census numbers used to reapportion each state's share of congressional seats and Electoral College votes.
