It all started on March 13th in Louisville Kentucky when Breonna Taylor was shot six times when police forced their way into her apartment. Her boyfriend Kenneth Walker was with her on the night she was killed by Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove of the Louisville Metro Police Department. Breonna Taylor was a 26-year-old unarmed black female hospital worker. Her aunt who organized a go fund me for Breonna said that “Breonna was such a joy; she was so vibrant and full of life. She was the one who kept the family together and now she will unify the world.”.

The night that Breonna was killed, her boyfriend recalled on an interview with CBS This Morning that he was a million percent sure the police did not identify themselves before entering and that he and Breonna asked multiple times who was there. Kenneth Walker stated that he’s never heard so many gunshots at the same time, he’s never been to war but he assumes that’s what war sounds like. Kenneth realized that Breonna had been shot in the middle of all the gunfire and she was still alive at the time the gun fired stopped. As he called 911 he did not know it was the police who shot Breonna, he proceeded to tell the dispatcher that someone kicked in the door and shot his girlfriend.

The police did not come rushing in after they knew they shot Breonna, Kenneth only realized that the police were there until he heard them talking, he walked outside and there were guns pointed at him, and he was being threatened with dogs. A video in the interview shows Kenneth with his hands on his head and down on his knees with two police officers telling him to put his hands on his head. The officer was being very rough with Kenneth as he’s saying “ow ow ow! What's going on?” The officer replied, “You’re going to f--ing prison, that's what's going on!”  Kenneth was asked by the officer if he was hit by any bullets and Kenneth replied “no.” The officer told him it was unfortunate.

There were a total of 32 shots fired, of which 6 bullets hit Breonna. Brett Hankison has been charged, not with Breonna’s death, but with "wanton endangerment" for firing into a neighbor’s apartment in Louisville. Two other officers who were involved have not been charged. This lowest-level felony offense can come with a five-year sentence for each count. Brett Hankison was charged with three counts.

I believe that is absolutely ridiculous. Breonna Taylor was a family person; she was loved by so many and she deserves justice! She did not deserve to go like this. You will be dearly missed, Breonna. Remember: Black Lives Matter today, tomorrow, forever.
