Out of many websites and apps to meet and date people, Bumble is the only app whose CEO is a woman. The CEO of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Herd, was an early executive at Tinder before making Bumble. When she started bumble back in 2014 it was because she saw a consistent problem of women in her life waiting for men to ask for their number or take them on dates. With the excel in women within the workplace and halls of power, she believed the old norms of dating and the gender biases were so outdated. She took action to change them and have women make the first move and send the first message.
Bumble has now become more than just a dating app. Bumble has two different features, Bumble Bff and Bumble Bizz. Bumble Bff has the same concept of Bumble Date except it's for friends, you can set preferences of different friends you want. Bumble Bizz has the same concept but it's for businesses, you can look for a job, talk to other business owners and help expand your business.
Bumble has released an update where when women make the first move they support a cause of their choice. The current causes are ending hunger, equal pay, and human rights which are all organized by women. One of the past causes they have organized is Rise founded by Amanda Nguyen, which is an organization that fights for the rights of sexual violence survivors. A different organization is MICU, which was founded by Baljeet Sandhu. MICU advocates and promotes the rights of young migrants and refugees uprooted by war, fleeing abuse and violence, and trafficked for the purposes of exploitation and slavery. On January 6th 2021, 2date4love states that there have been more than 20,000 marriages between people who have met on Bumble.
